The Council elects its own President. Elected members serve on the Council for three years, although those elected in the first election (2005) after the society's New Charter came into force on 7 December 2004 have terms of one year, two years and three years, allocated on the number of votes received.
Pharmacists A pharmacist is eligible for election to the unreserved places on Council if s/he is normally resident in Great Britain, the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands and is nominated by 10 pharmacists. A pharmacist wishing to stand for a national constituency (England (with the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands), Scotland or Wales) must be normally resident in that constituency but must be nominated by 10 pharmacists whose registered address is in that constituency.
All pharmacist members may vote in the annual election for pharmacist members of the Council.
