Scottish registration ceremony

A registration ceremony for new members was held at the Society's House at 36 York Place, Edinburgh, on the evening of Wednesday 1st October 2008.

Scottish Pharmacy Board roadshows

For the second year running the Scottish Pharmacy Board held a series of roadshows, Professional Leadership - your future, your choice! throughout Scotland.

The format of the 6 roadshows was as follows:

  • to provide an update on the activity of the SPB over the last year.
  • to inform members of the Boards response to the Clarke Inquiry report.
  • to provide an update on the development of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

    After which there was an opportunity to ask questions to the panel: SPB Chairman, Rose Marie Parr; Vice Chairman, Frank Owens and the Director for Scotland, Lyndon Braddick.

  • Scottish Office Open Day

    The Scottish Office held an Open Day for its members and their families on Sunday 27 April 2008.

    Visitors had the opportunity to meet and air views with members of the Scottish Pharmacy Board; find out about Branches; review the latest publications and find out about information services. Members took the opportunity to visit the Victorian Pharmacy and tour the home of the RPSGB in Scotland since 1884. The day was finished with a relaxing complimentary open top bus tour of Edinburgh city.

    Professional Leadership Seminar

    Ths Scottish Pharmacy Board hosted a Professional Leadership Seminar on Thursday 10 April at the Society's House of 36 York Place, Edinburgh.

    This seminar was attended by over 50 pharmacists from throughout Scotland who came to join in the discussion on the future Professional Leadership body. Guest speakers at the seminar included Rose Marie Parr, Chair of the Scottish Pharmacy Board; Nigel Clarke, Chair of the Clarke Inquiry; Hemant Patel, President, RPSGB and Jeremy Holmes, Chief Executive & Registrar, RPSGB.

    Scottish registration ceremony

    A registration ceremony for new members was held at the Society's House at 36 York Place, Edinburgh, on the evening of Wednesday 24 October 2007 at 7.30pm.

    Scottish Pharmacy Board roadshow

    The Scottish Pharmacy Board held a total of 5 roadshows, A vision for Scottish pharmacy - Have your say, discussing with members what they can expect from the Scottish Pharmacy Board, the potential implications of the White Paper: Trust, Assurance and Safety: The Regulation of Health Professionals in the 21st Century and allowing members to air their views on the future for pharmacy in Scotland.

    Each event was hosted by the Director for Scotland and included presentations from the Chairman - Rose Marie Parr - and Vice Chairman - Frank Owens - of the Board.

    Annual meeting

    The 2007 Annual meeting of members of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in Scotland took place at the Society's York Place office on Tuesday 12 June.

    The event was hosted by the Director for Scotland and included a panel of guest speakers who gave a short presentation followed by panel discussion and debate.
