How medicines were made DVD

How medicines were made DVDA highly informative film entitled How medicines were made, revealing some of the secrets of pharmacy’s history, is on sale.

The film shows Peter Homan, retired community pharmacist and one of the Museum’s volunteers, demonstrating various techniques including pill-making, producing cachets and using a Brockedon press to make tablets.

The 15-minute film is subtitled to increase its accessibility and flexibility of use. It is priced at £12.50 including postage, or £11 in person from the from the Society’s headquarters. The film is available in DVD or VHS format.

It is also possible for members to borrow a copy of the film from the from the Society’s headquarters.

Pictures of pharmacy past CD

Pictures of pharmacy past CDPictures of pharmacy past has been designed for use in educational presentations and contains 30 historical pharmacy images from the Museum’s collections – some dating back over 500 years.

The range of images includes a picture of wood cut depicting an apothecary created in 1491 and modern images of a pharmacist photographed in 2005, as well as a number of objects from the Museum’s collections. Each CD includes full captions for the images, provided in both large and small file sizes for user convenience.

The CD is available for £5.00 including postage or in person from the from the Society’s headquarters for £4.50.

Mousemats

The mousemats show a photograph of a pharmacy interior from 1959, a caricature by Ernest Griset called The Consultation dating from around 1870, and The Headache by George Cruikshank, published in 1819.

Each mousemat measures 235mm x 200mm, and costs £6 including post and packaging, or £5 in person from the Society’s headquarters.
