Our Pharmacy debate packs have been specifically written to support the National Curriculum for Key Stage 4 in Citizenship. Each pack contains information on how you could run a topical debate and includes one of the following three different motions to be researched and discussed by your students:
You may decide that you would like to download just one pack as part of a related scheme of work, or you may decide that you would like to use all three to develop your students’ skills in speaking and listening as well as critical thinking. The packs are designed for use with Year 10 students, but can be adapted to suit the learning needs of your class.
Below you will find comprehensive Teachers’ guidelines, including curriculum links, suggested session structure and information on different ways to debate. There are also some useful website resources listed to help your students in their research.
If as part of your debate you would like to arrange for a pharmacist to visit your class for your students to have the opportunity to ask questions relating to their research, we would be happy to help you arrange this. Our details are at the back of the Teachers’ guidelines.
As a brand new resource, we would welcome your feedback. Below are teacher and student feedback forms which we hope you will take the time to complete and return to us by e-mail or by post. Information about how you have used the packs what has worked and what has not, and suggestions for new debate topics would help us to improve and increase the resources we can offer.
We hope that you and your students enjoy using your new Pharmacy debate packs, and that you find they encourage active and positive discussions on these topical issues which affect all young people today.
