Lung cancer awareness month is an annual event promoting the message that early detection and treatment of the disease can save lives.
Community pharmacists have been positioned at the forefront of the 2007 campaign and, in support of this, the UK Lung Cancer Coalition (UKLCC) has produced a toolkit to assist pharmacists in inviting Members of Parliament to pharmacies throughout November 2007. The aim is to highlight how pharmacists can help improve awareness of the early signs and symptoms of lung cancer, as well as offer advice and support.

A report drawn up in October 2000 by representatives of health professions and patients shows that patients benefit more when health care professionals work together, and claims that team work is the key to the future success of primary health care.
The report - Teamworking in primary healthcare - sets out 11 recommendations to assist in establishing primary health care teams, and calls on the national organisations responsible for the team members for support.
Copies of the report, produced by the Forum on Teamworking in Primary Healthcare (a joint initiative of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain and the British Medical Association), can be downloaded here as a PDF (read only) file. Loan copies are available to RPSGB members from the Society's library.
