General information

Preregistration trainees can sit the registration examination after they have completed 45 weeks of their preregistration training, provided that their preregistration tutor is satisfied with their performance. In the examination the trainee is required to demonstrate knowledge and understanding by analysing and evaluating practice-based problems.

A trainee must pass the examination to register, in addition to demonstrating satisfactory performance, since competence depends on skills, attitudes and knowledge.

The examination takes place on two occasions each year: the summer (the last Friday in June) and the autumn (the last Friday in September).
